Once you reach the top you'll find a steep slope of a checkered pattern. Stand at the ends of them to create a ramp that lets you climb to the next level of platforms. The blue platforms you see ahead of you will teeter if you stand on one side of them. Once you reach solid ground again you'll be faced with a new challenge. It'll take some fancy footwork for the next section of platforming-perform a small jump whenever you move from one moving platform to the next to ensure you don't fall off. The easiest way to get by them is to run around the crystal in the same direction they're moving-as they move away from you, follow behind them to safely get by. Just ahead is a sloping path that's lined with crystals guarded by electricly-charged enemies. Once you're on the top of the slope, jump onto one of the spinning platforms and ride it over to the other side. Run around the back of the slope to find an easier-to-climb way to the top that leads past a second torch. The first big challenge is a blue-lined slope that's too tall to climb. The primary goal here is pretty simple: Just make your way across the hairy obstacle course to reach the end. When you run down the hall towards the painting at the end, the floor will falls out from under you and you're whisked away to this dangerous level. When you've got twelve stars you can open up large star door on the left side of the balcony in the main castle foyer. Hit him three times with this attack and you'll earn the key that unlocks Luigi's room. Circle around Big Boo to get behind him and perform a dive attack to strike him from behind. When Big Boo is only visible in the reflection, use the shadow on the ground near Mario as an indicator of where he is. Big Boo will go back and forth between being visible in your world and being visible in the reflection world. You'll see Luigi's reflection as Big Boo appears. Walk forward and stand in front of the big mirror. Run over the bridge and use the three checkered platforms to reach the top and drop into the hole. Head east again in the third room, and north again in the fourth room until you reach a hall with a long falling bridge. To get through them, you'll have to proceed from room to room by going through the correct doors-if you go through a wrong door you'll be warped back to the beginning. The first part of this hidden area is a maze of rooms. Jump through the painting of Luigi to start the Big Boo Battle. Jump on that ledge and perform a wall kick or a triple jump to reach the hidden platform above you, and continue through the door to the attic. Run past the bookcase to your left to find a small rise in the flooring (under a red box). At the top of the stairs, turn right and go through the last door you see. Once you do, you can climb the steps in the main foyer of the haunted house. Enter the Big Boo's Haunt level (course five) and earn the very first star.

Hit him a third time and you'll end the fight, earning a key that unlocks a door with Mario behind it.Ĭompleting this task will earn you the key for unlocking Luigi's door in the main castle. In order to outrun him you'll have to run along the inner two rings of the platform. Once you've hit the Goomboss twice he starts running at super speed. When he starts running again, run in the opposite direction and repeat the process. Once you've hit him, run halfway around the ring and wait there for the Goomboss to summon his minions. Without stepping into the center of the area (it's filled with the toxic fog), run around the ring away from the Goomboss to get behind him. You need to swallow up one of the smaller goombas, turn it into an egg, and fire the egg at the Goomboss three times to take him down (the egg will fly through all the lesser goombas, so you can shoot while still standing behind him). The Goomboss, um, expells smaller goombas behind him that follow him around as he chases after. Drop into the hole to face off against the Goomboss. Hop up onto the tall log platform (it's not moving) and climb up the vine in the center.įrom the donut-shaped platform at the top, cross the arc bridge ahead, sneak past the sleeping pirahna plant, and hop up the log platforms (refill your health) to reach a hole that's at the top of the highest platform. When you reach the end of the rising log platforms you'll have to worry about a pirahna plant and a lakitu. When you reach the rising log platforms use them to get across the pink fog below (if you touch the fog you'll get hurt). Slide down the first ramp and stay on the path to the left. To get to the Goomboss Battle level you'll have to open the eight-star door in Princess Peach's room.
